PHARMACOLOGY

Clotrimazole is a broad-spectrum imidazole with potent anti-fungal against dermatophytes, including Epidermophytes, Microsporum, Trichophyton spp. and Malassezia furfur, and Candida species. It permeates the chitin of the fungal cell wall and increases the membrane permeability to various intracellular substances. Hydrocortisone is a topically active corticosteroid which has potent-anti-inflammatory, anti-pruritic, and vasoconstrictive actions.

Indications

Topical treatment of tines pedis, tinea cruris, tinea corporis due to Trichophytes canis, tinea versicolor due to Malassezia furfur, and for cutaneous or external genital candidiasis due to Candida albicans, when these dermal infections are accompanied by pronounced inflammatory symptoms. Thus Candacort is particularly indicated for the initial stages of treatment.
