Cocoa-Scalp is a treatment for all scaly scalp conditions: dandruff, sebborhoiec dermatitis (red scaly scalp), eczema (ithchy scalp) and psoriasis

Cocoa-Scalp is for the treatment of dry scaly skin disorders such as psoriasis, eczema, dandruff and other inflammatory conditions causing irritation and scaliness. Cocoa-Scalp is a buff colored ointment. It works by reducing the scaliness and irritation of the skin associated with dry scaly skin disorders. Coal tar and sulphur reduce inflammation of the skin and salicylic acid helps remove scale. Store Cocoa-Scalp below 25c in a dry place. Do not refrigerate.

Cocoa-Scalp has mild, antipruritic, antiseptic and keratolytic properties. It is indicated in the treatment of common scaly skin disorders of the scalp such as psoriasis, eczema, seborrhoeic dermatitis and dandruff.

Ingredients

Cocoa-Scalp contains: Coal tar solution BP 12.0% w/w, sulphur for external use Ph Eur 4.0% w/w, salicylic acid Ph Eur 2.0% w/w.

Reactions

Skin irritation, folliculitis and, rarely, photo-sensitivity.

Directions

Adults & children over 12 years. For use as a mild anti-dandruff: use intermittently as adjunctive treatment, about once a week. Use to treat Psoriasis, eczema, seborrhoeic dermatitis and severe dandruff: use daily for 3-7 days until improvement. Intermittent repeated applications may be necessary to maintain improvement. Affected area should be treated and shampooed off using warm water approximately 1 hour later.

Warnings

Do not use Cocoa-Scalp if you have any known sensitivity to the ingredients, including sulphur and salicylates and coal tar. In the presence of acute local infections or acute pustular psoriasis. Not recommended in children under 6 years.

Do not use Cocoa-Scalp if you are pregnant, sensitive to any of the ingredients, suffering any acute infection of the skin, suffering from a form of psoriasis which causes the appearance of blisters filled with pus (called pustular psoriasis). Avoid any contact with the eyes. Coal tar may stain clothes and jewellery. Care should be taken to protect or remove these before application. Cocoa-Scalp should only be used under medical supervision in children aged 6-12. It is not recommended for use in children under the age of six years.
