It is considered to be an effective treatment for allergic rhinitis, hay fever, allergic conjunctivitis, allergic skin reactions as well as allergic reactions to blood products. In some cases it may be used in combination with other drugs to treat anaphylaxis.

This medication is in a class of drugs called phenothiazines, and it works by inhibiting the action of a certain natural substance in the body. In addition to the aforementioned conditions, this drug may be used;

• To treat colds
• To help patients relax prior to undergoing surgery
• And to prevent travel sickness.
