PicoPrep orange flavour sachets are used to remove the bowel contents and cleanse it prior to the doctor’s examination or surgery. It enables your doctor to see inside easily. It is sometimes used to clear the colon before a special x-ray of the kidneys. It does this by acting in the intestine and colon causing a watery stool or bowel motion which removes the bowel contents.

Your doctor, however, may prescribe PicoPrep for another purpose. Ask your doctor if you have any questions about why PicoPrep has been prescribed for you or how you are to take it

Ingredients:

PicoPrep powder for solution contains:

·10mg of sodium picosulfate;

·3.5g of magnesium oxide;

·12.0g of citric acid; and,

· 36mg of aspartame.

Usage Directions:

Do not take this medication without consulting your doctor or pharmacist. Follow all directions given to you by your doctor carefully. 

Preparation of Solution 
Slowly add the contents of one sachet of PicoPrep to a large glass of cold water (approximately 250mL). Stir gently.

Timing of sachets and time without food or drink before the examination may be varied by your doctor.

PicoPrep should only be taken by adults and children over the age of 9 years.

Two Sachet Preparation:

No solid foods, milk products or alcoholic beverages allowed.

1.On the day prior to the examination, drink Approved Clear Fluids only.

2.Commencing on the day before the examination (at approximately 3 pm), dissolve the entire contents of one sachet of PicoPrep in a glass (250 ml) of warm water. If preferred chill in a refrigerator before drinking. Drink the contents of the glass followed by a glass of water. Continue drinking Approved Clear Fluids, at least a glass per hour the more the better to ensure adequate body hydration.

3.In the evening of the same day (at approximately 9 pm), repeat the above with another sachet of PicoPrep i.e.: dissolve in a glass of warm water, chill if preferred, then drink contents followed by a glass of water. Continue drinking Approved Clear Fluids, at least a glass per hour until six (6) hours prior to the examination.

No food or drink should be taken for six (6) hours prior to the examination.

Three Sachet Preparation:

No solid foods, milk products or alcoholic beverages allowed.

1. On the day prior to the examination, drink Approved Clear Fluids only.

2. Commencing on the day before the examination (at approximately 1pm), dissolve the entire contents of one sachet of PicoPrep in a glass (250 mls) of warm water. If preferred chill in a refrigerator before drinking. Drink the contents of the glass followed by a glass of water. Continue drinking Approved Clear Fluids, at least a glass per hour the more the better to ensure adequate body hydration.

3. In the evening of the same day (at approximately 5pm), repeat the above with another sachet of PicoPrep, that is, dissolve in a glass of warm water, chill if preferred, then drink contents followed by a glass of water. Continue drinking Approved Clear Fluids, at least a glass per hour the more the better to ensure adequate body hydration.

4. In the evening of the same day (at approximately 9pm), repeat the above again with the third sachet of PicoPrep ie: dissolve in a glass of warm water, chill if preferred, and drink the contents followed by a glass of water. Continue drinking Approved Clear Fluids at least a glass per hour until six (6) hours prior to the examination.

No food or drink should be taken for six (6) hours prior to the examination

Storage:

Keep your medicine in its sachet until it is time to mix.

Store below 30°C.
